On a mission to crack the code of the music industry, Jade took on artist management and began learning the business from the inside out. While building direct relationships with label executives and other industry decision-makers, she gained hands-on experience with sample clearances, copyright registration, sync licensing, and various types of industry deals, witnessing firsthand the opportunities, challenges, and unpredictable circumstances that can unfold when a record breaks through.
As Jade's understanding of the industry expanded, she began moving from managing opportunities to helping foster them. Jade stepped into executive production, bringing producers, songwriters, and recording artists together for collaborations and remixes, with the end goal of developing commercially viable records that would earn a record deal. The work required her to understand what labels were looking for and how to assemble the right pieces to trade music for money through the existing system.
In 2024, Jade dove deeper into the infrastructure responsible for tracking, administering, and collecting the money generated by music as a direct result of taking on managing producers. She learned the ins and outs of catalog administration, identifying and recovering missing royalties from performing organizations, major labels, and collection societies while navigating distribution, publishing, and catalog sale deals. The deeper she went, the more clearly she began to see the broken financial mechanics within the current system.
Through every role she took on, Jade uncovered dozens of issues within the music industry's underlying infrastructure that demanded a better solution. Now, she is turning that experience into action, developing a revolutionary music technology platform focused on improving how money moves through the industry and creating better payment infrastructure for the people behind the music.
